I have always had a passion for quotes. When I was younger I used to write them down in a small book. Now I just like to look them up online or read them in books. I just love how some people are able to express feelings that are sometimes hard to face. These are my all-time favorites:
The first one is from my favorite book on earth: ‘Een schitterend gebrek’ by Arthur Japin. It is also available in English as ‘In Lucia’s eyes’. Please read this book at least once. It is the best book I have ever read and I have worn out a lot of books.
” Waarom zou een wonder geen wonder zijn alleen omdat een ander het niet ziet?” – Arthur Japin, Een schitterend gebrek
In English:” Why would a miracle not be a miracle just because someone else does not see it?”
My second favorite quote is a quote I found online. I am not sure who it is from, but if you do know, tell me in the comments!
“The meaning of life is just to be alive. It is so plain and simple yet everybody rushes around in great panics as if it were necessary to achieve something beyond themselves”
The next quote that I adore is from the popular TV-show ‘One Tree Hill’. I think started watching this show when I was about 9 or 10. Not only because the handsome Chad Michael Murray played the leading part, but because of the story that they were telling and the beautiful things they said at the end of the episodes. If you have never watched this show before: Congrats, you just found yourself the next binge watching series!
“Make a wish and place it in your heart.
Anything you want. Everything you want
Do you have it? Good. Now believe it can come true.
You never know where the next miracle is gonna come from.
The next memory. the next smile. the next wish come true.
But if you believe that it’s right around the corner,
and open your heart and mind to the possibility of it, to the certainty of it,
you might just get the thing you’re wishing for.
The world is full of magic. You just have to believe in it.
So make your wish. Do you have it?
Good. Now believe in it.
With all your heart.” – One Tree Hill
My next poem is from a book I recently bought: “Milk and Honey” by Rupi Kaur.
“If you were born with the weakness to fall, you were born with the strength to rise.” – Rupi Kaur
Another poem I really like is from a book I read a couple of years ago. It is a book from John Green. John Green comes from Indiana, where I lived for a year. When I lived in Indiana, I bought some of his books. They are very good and I think he is one of the best writers ever. This quote is from the book ‘Looking for Alaska’. Boy, I cried a river while reading that book. I even had to stop a couple of months before I could go on with it. After reading the book, I just threw it away, it was just too emotional for me to read again. But this is my favorite quote from it:
“People were created to be loved. Things were created to be used. The reason why the world is in chaos, is because things are being loved and people are being used.” – John Green, Looking for Alaska
